The traditional theme for the 35-year wedding anniversary is coral, which has the appropriate symbolic meaning of longevity and strength. While some coral reefs are now endangered, red corals grow mainly in the Mediterranean Sea, either in the depths or in dark caverns. The hard skeleton of red coral branches is naturally matte but can be polished to a glassy lustre.

A fine emerald is an impressive sight, and this member of the beryl family deserves its place among the traditional ‘big four’ gems along with diamond, ruby, and sapphire.
